Are you used to rushing through your day, multitasking, juggling more things than Shiva with all his arms could handle, and ending up feeling drained and empty, as if you just survived the day?
I get you. I used to be like that, and at the end of the day, I craved a sense of fulfilment and purpose.
I wanted to feel like I was doing something bigger than just going through the motions.
I wanted to feel like I had a purpose for my day, not that my life was a big serendipity thing.
But what if I tell you that you can start guiding and creating your life intentionally and end your day feeling more aligned with your purpose?
I know you are very busy, but it won't take more than 5 minutes a day. Doable, right?
Creating a Mindful Day: Let's Get Started with One Simple Question:
What is my intention for today?
Write down how you want to show up for yourself and what your purpose is for the day. I'm not talking about finding the meaning of life or your dream life; these are great points but will need to be addressed with more commitment. Let's start small.
Keep it simple:Â For today, with what I have and who I am at this moment, what is my intention for the day ahead?
Do this in the morning, maybe before you jump out of bed if things get too crazy with kids and chores, or while you are having your coffee. Any 5 minutes that fits for you.
Next Steps:
Write down how you want to feel during the day.Â
What emotions are you welcoming into your day? Happy, achieved, calm, focused, loving? You choose.
List three things you are grateful for.Â
Your five-year-old didn't spill Milo on the carpet, you booked the holidays, your partner did the dishes, or you didn't step in the dog’s mess. Anything that makes you glad.
By doing this, you will start noticing that your energy flows where your intention goes. You will realise that you are more in control of your life than you ever imagined, and you will see miracles start happening.
A Personal Example:
Not long ago, I was on my meditation cushion, setting my intentions for the day ahead.
I tuned into the moment and decided that I wanted to create a mindful day, to be a receiver and to be of service. I wanted to feel happy, open, loved, and hopeful. I was grateful for my past self for quitting smoking, for waking up early and watching the sunrise, and for showing up for myself.
To be honest, it took me less than 5 minutes to write it down.
Then, I got up and started my day. I checked my phone and saw a message from a collaborator asking me to contact a potential client. I did, and she was ready to work with me.
We had our first session on the same day, which went so well that what was supposed to be a 60-minute session became a 100-minute session.
I felt I had won the day. My intention was fulfilled. I was of service and gave all the value I could. She paid me for the first third of the program, so I thought: Here is where I fulfilled the intention of being a receiver.
But that wasn't all. In the next 2 hours, I received beautiful messages from two clients, showing all their love and gratitude for the transformations they experienced. I was over the moon!
My full purpose of the day was fulfilled: I served, I received, and I felt loved and hopeful. I couldn't be happier.
Setting Intentions:
Setting intentions is like giving the universe the right coordinates. If you don't know what you want, anything will do.
It's like going to a restaurant and ordering "food" without specifying. You may like what you get or not, but the chances of getting what you want are small.
Think of each morning as a menu of the dishes available for your day. You can choose whatever you want. Be mindful.
Points to Note:
If you can, revisit your intentions during the day to realign with them. It will make your commitment with your purpose stronger, increasing the likeability of manifesting it. A tip here is to take a picture of your notes and make it the cover photo on your cell phone, so you have it available in just one touch.
Remember to reflect on your morning intentions at the end of the day. What worked? What didn't? By doing this, you teach your brain to make the right adjustments for the next day.Â
As everything gets better with practice and consistency, even if you don't get what you asked for on the first day or so, keep doing it. Time and repetition are required to make anything work right.
Now that you know how much you can bring to your day, will you give it 5 minutes? I hope so.
My intention for today? To bring you a perspective that uplifts your life. May my words land in the most loving and encouraging way, helping you start living a more purposeful life. And may you be open to the miracles coming your way.
