What No One Tells You About Falling Off Track (And the Lessons I Learned)

There’s something powerful about being able to say, “I love my life.” Not because everything’s perfect, but because I’ve lived through enough of the chaos, the lessons, and the falling-apart moments to truly mean it.
I love every version of myself — the ones that rise, the ones that stumble, the ones that sprint forward with purpose, and even the ones that want to lie on the floor with snacks, avoiding all responsibility. Yes, her too.
I’m proud of how disciplined, focused, and aligned I can be. I’m someone who goes after what she wants. I do the things. I drive. I chase. I commit. I show up.
But here’s the twist no one tells you when you’re out there chasing your best life: The same fire and force you use to build your dreams? It can also take you straight into burnout, confusion, and procrastination.
And guess what? I’ve lived both.
The Falling of Track No One Talks About Enough
For the past couple of months, I wasn’t that motivated, high-performing, get-it-done woman. I was floating… or better yet, dropping. Losing momentum. Derailed. Some days, I couldn’t even recognise my own drive.
The dreams I was once so excited about? They felt far away. Empty, even. Like, what’s the point of all this anyway?
Sounds dramatic, I know — but if you’ve ever been there, you get it.
I used to be afraid of those moments. The off seasons. The part where everything feels out of sync. But I’ve learnt something life-changing: those moments are part of the plan too.
When You Fall, You Learn
Every time I miss the mark — skip the routine, break a promise to myself, let fear or doubt sneak in — I don’t just “fail.” I learn.
I learn about how sneaky the mind can be. I learn how easy it is to lose touch with your purpose when you stop tending to your body, your boundaries, your mind.
I learn that my dreams aren’t always shiny and exciting. Sometimes, they ask for work, discipline, and choosing them over the comfy chaos of instant distraction.
But I also learn how to be gentler with myself. How to recommit without shame. How to say: “OK, I fell off track. Now, let’s figure out how to get back on.”
Because life isn’t a straight road. It’s a wave.
Riding the Wave
When the wave is rising — oh, it’s magic. You feel alive, creative, productive, aligned. You collect the rewards of all your effort. You think: I’ve cracked it! And then the wave drops. Fast.
That’s where the pain is. The doubts. The messy middle. The “I don’t know what I’m doing” phase.
But eventually, you float. And then, slowly, you rise again.
And when you do — you bring all that wisdom, all those realisations, with you.
The Gold I Found in the Drop
Here’s what I learnt in my wave-drop season:
Boundaries are non-negotiable. Who you surround yourself with matters. What you consume — from food to conversations — impacts everything.
Exercise is medicine. It’s not about how you look; it’s about staying connected to who you are.
Food is fuel or a thief. If you don’t watch what goes into your body, it will rob you — of energy, creativity, even your will to live your dream.
Connection is everything. We need friends. Real ones. We need people to witness our lives, hold us when we can’t, laugh with us, walk beside us.
Leadership is priceless. Having a mentor, a guide, someone who can see the bigger picture when you can’t — that’s gold.
This too shall pass. Good or bad, nothing stays the same. The storm always ends. The rainbow always comes.
And now?
I’m rising again.
I feel aligned. I feel real. I feel like me — but steadier. Clearer. With sharper eyes and a fuller heart.
I haven’t changed who I am. I’ve just deepened it. Strengthened it.
Everything I’ve been through added layers to my confidence, not cracks.
I didn’t start over — I expanded.
So if you’re in a storm right now, I just want to say:
Hold on. Float. Let the wave carry you.
And when it passes (because it will), you’ll rise — braver, clearer, and more aligned than ever.
After the storm comes the rainbow. Yes, it does.
And it’ll be worth it.
